Gowdey Reed

Thank you for visiting the Gowdey Reed webpage. After almost 200 years of continuous operation Gowdey Reed has closed its doors.  Our inventory, and some machinery was acquired by Palmetto Loom Reed Company in Greenville, SC.  Palmetto is a well established reputable company reed company with 100 years of reed making behind them.  During the transition I will be working with them and you, our Gowdey customers to ensure a smooth changeover. I am confident I am leaving you in good hands.

What a great pleasure it has been to make reeds over the years for the weaving community. Beginning with my great-grandfather James A Wilson purchasing The J.A. Gowdey Reed and Harness Manufacturing Company in March of 1900 five generations of Wilsons have worked here. I feel confident that I am leaving you in the very capable hands of the folks at Palmetto and hope to work with you well into the future.
