As the oldest manufacturer of textile reeds in the United States, Gowdey Reed serves both the commercial and handloom customer. Your order is personally inspected and handled by Gowdey Reed owner, Jim Wilson. The service you get is customized to meet your needs.

Reeds can be manufactured using stainless steel, tempered steel or carbon steel. Though most of our reeds are bound by using epoxy, we offer a soldering option as well. We manufacturer Front and Back Reeds of various lengths. Dents per inch vary from four to sixty.

Reeds are available in carbon steel, tempered steel (high carbon) and stainless steel. The standard Dents Per Inch (DPI) ranges up to 20. Anything over 20 DPI constitutes a finer reed and may cost slightly more.
